Electronic Engineer graduated from the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (USP) in 1972, with a Master’s (1979) and PhD (1991) in Electronic Systems, and a habilitation in IT Management (2009). He has been a professor at Poli-USP since 1987 in the Department of Production Engineering, coordinating specialization programs in Logistics (CELOG) and previously in IT Project Management. His professional background includes major contributions to national projects such as the G-10 computer, digital telephone exchanges, automation systems, and railway signaling, with experience at institutions like the Foundation for Technological Development of Engineering, CPqD/Telebrás, and Cosipa/Siderbrás. He served as President of the Carlos Alberto Vanzolini Foundation (2002–2006) and remains on its Board of Trustees, leading consulting projects in software quality and public service improvement. He also heads the Conecticidade research group, focused on smart cities and innovative urban solutions. An active member of ABNT and ISO committees since 1975, he has contributed to international standards such as ISO/IEC 12207, 15289, and 29110. Additionally, he is co-founder of Antares Eletrônica (since 1986), a company dedicated to designing and manufacturing specialized electronic equipment for computing, automation, and telecommunications.
